The Hadassah ALS clinic at Hadassah University Hospital – one of only two ALS clinics in Israel – serves as a major clinical and research hub for ALS. Extensive clinical data is routinely collected, in database format, providing a valuable resource facilitating epidemiological and genetic research. The centre was the setting of a major phase I/II stem-cell therapy trial and is currently involved in a number of epidemiological, genetic, and biomarker-based studies.
Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) is the second largest and one of the most progressive full-service healthcare treatment and research institutions in Israel, and is a national referral center for many major primary and specialty care services.
The ALS clinic at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center is the largest referral center for ALS in Israel and follows up approximately 70% of the ALS patients from throughout the country, with over 100 new cases diagnosed yearly.
The center maintains a large DNA bank and serum bank of ALS patients together with well documented clinical data that are available for research purposes. We are currently involved in research projects on the genetics of ALS, serum biomarkers for disease onset and progression, computational analysis and predictive modeling of ALS.
Prize4Life was founded in 2007 by Avichai Kremer, who was diagnosed with ALS while an MBA student at Harvard, and a group of his friends, with the goal of accelerating the development of treatments and a cure for ALS using powerful incentives. Avichai is the recipient of the Rand award from the American ALS Association and the Prime Minister award for innovation and entrepreneurship in a non-profit organization. Prize4Life is now managed by Shay Rishoni, diagnosed with ALS three years ago. Shay Rishoni, MBA, is a military Colonel (res.), a pilot, a senior executive for many years, a triathlete, and an Iron Man.
To successfully accelerate the development of ALS treatments, Prize4Life uses the unique prize model. The prize model is a highly effective way to incentivize research, as well as draw new minds from various disciplines to tackle the problems facing ALS research. Beyond Prizes, Prize4Life also has innovative infrastructure programs. Prize4Life’s programs already have yielded key results setting the stage for significant progress in the fight against ALS.

Dr. Marc Gotkine received his medical degree in King’s College London before completing a residency in Neurology at Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem, where he now works as a senior neurologist. He established the multidisciplinary Hadassah ALS clinic in 2008, which serves as a clinical and research centre for ALS.
Prof. Vivian Drory is a neurologist at Tel-Aviv Medical Center in Tel-Aviv deeply involved in the care of patients with ALS. She studied Medicine at Heidelberg Medical School in Germany, trained in neurology at Tel-Aviv Medical Center and in neuromuscular diseases and neurophysiology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. For the last 20 years she leads the first and largest ALS clinic in Israel and contributed to the establishment of modern approaches in patient care and support, as well as to a better understanding of disease mechanisms through extensive basic and clinical research.
Dr. Noa Davis holds an MsC and PhD from the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry at the Tel Aviv University. Dr. Davis has significant research experience in various fields of biology, including human genetics, molecular biology and pathological anatomy, and an industrial experience in various aspects of product development. Outside the lab, Dr. Davis has a vast knowledge on clinical trial management, intellectual property and regulatory affairs. Before joining Prize4life, Dr. Davis served as R&D Director at Micromedic Technologies and as a Research Associate and a Lab Manager in the Sackler School of Medicine in the Tel Aviv University.
