On Saturday 27 December, a special football match was organised for FUNDELA/Project MinE in the Fernando Torres stadium in Madrid, to celebrate the career of the famous football player Carlos Matallanas and his retirement from football. Carlos retires at a young age as he has been diagnosed with ALS in the summer of 2014. The turn-up for the football match was great; a full stadium with family and friends and involvement of some well known soccer players (Kiko, Pepe Reina, Pantic, Camacho…). Carlos is fighting the disease with all his powers since this summer and writes a blog about his experiences to make the disease more well-known and to promote ALS research. You can read his blog here (in Spanish).
