We are devastated after hearing that Dutch mountaineer and ambassador for Project MinE Eric Arnold died on the Mount Everest. Our thoughts go out to his loved ones.
Eric Arnold had just realized his dream by reaching the top of the Mount Everest. While descending he perished at Camp IV last night due to altitude-related sickness. Eric was one among a very few Dutch climbers who succeeded in climbing the Mount Everest. He reached summit of Mount Everest at his 5th attempt.
Eric was an adventurer who wished to conquer the highest mountain of this world. He wanted to reach the optimal experience in the ultimate challenge. He was inspired by the analogy of ALS patients fighting their devastating disease. Both require many small steps and perseverance. Eric has been an inspirator for many and his death is a great loss.
Project MinE initiator and ALS patient Bernard Muller tweeted: Speechless, sad & devastated… After reaching his dream close to heaven…. RIP Eric Arnold.
